How to Select the Right Wall Tie for Your Project

How to Select the Right Wall Tie for Your Project

Choosing the right wall tie depends on your wall type, insulation needs, thermal efficiency goals, and whether seismic performance is a factor. Here's a breakdown of your options:

1. DW-10HS Veneer Anchor

  • Best for: Brick veneer attached to metal studs, masonry, concrete, or wood.

  • Ideal when: No insulation is present, and there’s low risk of wallboard deterioration.

  • Key Features:

    • Over 3" of vertical adjustability.

    • High strength.

    • Available in Hot Dip Galvanized or Stainless Steel.

  • Use with: Vee-Byna Tie (sold separately).

  • Not ideal for: Insulated walls — use X-SEAL Anchor instead.

2. HB-213 Adjustable Veneer Anchor

  • Best for: CMU/concrete, metal studs, or wood studs.

  • Ideal when: You need strong load capacity and seismic options.

  • Key Features:

    • Tested for 200-lbf tension/compression.

    • Strong ribbed design.

    • Optional seismic reinforcement (Seismiclip or Seismic Hook).

  • Use with: 2X-HOOK (sold separately).

3. 2-Seal Tie

  • Best for: Metal stud construction with insulation and air/vapor barriers.

  • Ideal when: You want to prevent air/moisture leaks without perfect screw alignment.

  • Key Features:

    • Dual-diameter barrel with factory-installed EPDM washers.

    • Strong seal around insulation and air barriers.

    • Faster installation with integrated #12 screw.

  • Use with: 2-Seal Byna-Lok Hook (sold separately).

  • Material: Polymer-coated carbon steel.

4. Thermal 2-Seal Tie

  • Best for: Metal studs, concrete, CMU, or wood backup where thermal performance is important.

  • Ideal when: Reducing thermal bridging through rigid insulation.

  • Key Features:

    • Stainless steel construction.

    • Large 1-1/2" washer to secure insulation.

    • Coated for reduced heat transfer.

  • Use with: 2-Seal Byna-Lok Hook (sold separately).

  • Better Energy Efficiency: Compared to traditional ties.

5. Thermal 2-Seal Wing Nut Anchor

  • Best for: Steel, concrete, CMU, or wood stud walls needing maximum thermal break and seismic adaptability.

  • Ideal when: You need maximum thermal efficiency and seismic flexibility.

  • Key Features:

    • Dual-diameter barrel + Thermal Wings (thermal break).

    • High flame resistance.

    • 1/2" inward adjustability for wall thickness variations.

    • Stainless steel construction.

  • Use with: 2X-HOOK (sold separately).
