Multi-Flash™ 500 is a flexible, non-asphaltic copper fabric flashing manufactured from a sheet of copper laminated on both sides with polymer fabric. It combines the long-term durability of copper with the flexibility needed to cut, fold, and form the membrane by hand.

Available in 3-ounce, 5-ounce, and 7-ounce copper configurations, Multi-Flash 500 provides strong puncture and tear resistance without the staining associated with asphaltic flashing materials. The polymer fabric creates a reliable bonding surface for compatible sealants, air barriers, and other building-envelope materials.

Installation Requirements

  • Surfaces must be reasonably smooth and free of loose material.
  • Avoid slopes or depressions that could trap water or prevent drainage.
  • Install horizontal flashing over multiple beads of approved sealant and cover it with a fresh mortar bed.
  • Set flashing flush with the exterior masonry surface.
  • Secure vertical terminations with a termination bar and seal the upper edge with an approved sealant.
  • Carry cavity-wall flashing upward a minimum of 8" along the backup wall.
  • Extend head and sill flashing at least 6" beyond each side of the opening and turn up the ends to create end dams.
  • Join sections using York 304 SA with each flashing section embedded 2" into the butyl tape.
  • Alternatively, overlap sections by at least 6" and coat the contacting surfaces with an approved sealant.
  • Seal all flashing edges and joints.
  • Provide weep vents directly above the flashing and protect them from mortar droppings.
  • Fold end dams rather than cutting them.
