SELF-HEALING BENTONITE CLAY WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE FOR BELOW-GRADE AND STRUCTURAL APPLICATIONS
Carlisle Coatings & Waterproofing MiraCLAY® is a geosynthetic clay waterproofing membrane composed of sodium bentonite clay encapsulated between a nonwoven and woven polypropylene fabric. The layers are needle-punched and thermally fused using a proprietary Infrabond™ process, locking the bentonite in place for consistent, long-term performance.
Designed for below-grade waterproofing applications, MiraCLAY® forms a durable barrier that activates in the presence of moisture. When hydrated, the bentonite clay expands to create a dense, impermeable seal that prevents water migration and self-seals minor punctures or substrate movement.

INSTALLATION
MiraCLAY® is installed over properly prepared substrates in below-grade applications. The membrane is placed with proper overlap to ensure continuous coverage, allowing the bentonite to activate and seal when exposed to moisture. Follow manufacturer guidelines for detailing at seams, penetrations, and transitions.
RECOMMENDATIONS
For optimal system performance, pair MiraCLAY® with a drainage composite such as MiraDRAIN®. This combination helps relieve hydrostatic pressure by directing water away from the structure, enhancing overall waterproofing effectiveness.
