SELF-ADHERING MEMBRANE FOR SUPERIOR AIR, VAPOR, AND MOISTURE PROTECTION
AIR-SHIELD™ is a self-adhering air, vapor, and liquid moisture barrier designed to be part of a complete building envelope system. This rubberized asphalt membrane features a controlled thickness of approximately 40 mils and is constructed from cross-laminated polyethylene bonded to specially modified asphalt.
The membrane is strong, flexible, and highly durable, adhering to most primed surfaces at temperatures as low as 40°F (4°C). Protected by a release liner, AIR-SHIELD™ provides a tough, long-lasting barrier that resists shrinking, sagging, cracking, and rotting. It also offers excellent puncture resistance during installation.
In addition to full wall applications, AIR-SHIELD™ can be used as a transition membrane to protect critical detail areas such as window and door openings, wall intersections, foundation sill plates, and sheathing seams.
USES
AIR-SHIELD™ is designed for a wide range of above-grade air and vapor barrier applications, including:
- Cavity wall and masonry wall construction
- Precast and cast-in-place concrete
- Concrete block and masonry surfaces
- Interior and exterior gypsum board
- Insulating sheathing and plywood
- Primed steel, aluminum, and galvanized metal
It is ideal for both primary wall systems and detailed transitions requiring moisture and air infiltration protection.

COVERAGE / APPLICATION RATE
Coverage is based on roll dimensions. Each standard roll covers approximately 240 sq. ft.
Ensure proper surface preparation and priming where required. Apply membrane with firm pressure to achieve full adhesion and eliminate voids, especially around seams and penetrations.
SHELF LIFE
When stored properly in original packaging, AIR-SHIELD™ maintains performance for extended periods.
Storage Guidelines:
- Store on pallets and protect from rain and physical damage
- Do not store above 90°F (32°C) for extended periods
- Keep out of direct sunlight
- Do not double-stack pallets
- Keep away from sparks or open flames
